ACT NOW: STOP CUTS TO THE CHILDREN’S BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES

Suicide is the second leading cause of death for adolescents in New York, and half of children with a mental or behavioral health condition don’t receive the treatment they need. In New York, there are only two child psychiatrists for every 10,000 children. In many rural areas, that number is zero.

New York’s children and adolescents are in desperate need of more mental health and substance use services, yet the State is currently moving ahead with cuts to children’s behavioral health services.

The campaign is a coalition of behavioral health (mental health and substance use) providers, advocates, and New York families, joining together to call on the State to fulfill the promise of PARITY – advancing access to behavioral health care for all children and families.
